The Iconic Masculados Return With Their Latest Single “Saging”

The Masculados are bringing their signature “kaldag” energy into a new era with “Saging,” a playful new single set for release on September 4, 2026 (Friday).
The track is the group’s first new song since returning to Universal Records, the label that helped introduce them to Filipino music fans in the early 2000s.
Known for cheeky songs, bold performances, and a style that does not take itself too seriously, the group is keeping that spirit alive.
A New Song With the Same Masculados Energy
“Saging” takes its title from one of the Philippines’ favorite fruits, but the group is clearly having fun with the double meaning. The track uses playful lyrics and a catchy sound to keep things light, funny, and easy to remember.
Fans will not have to wait for the visual, either. The official music video will arrive on the same day as the song, giving listeners a full visual experience to match the track’s personality.
The release is another step in the group’s renewed partnership with Universal Records. Masculados originally launched with the label in 2003, with their debut album featuring songs such as “Sana Mama,” “Lagot Ka,” and “Macho Papa.”
From “Jumbo Hotdog” to a Fresh Chapter
The single follows the group’s updated version of their well-known hit “Jumbo Hotdog.” Released in 2025, it received a Budots makeover from Davao-based DJ Love, also known as Sherwin Tuna. The remix was released by Universal Records and later appeared on DJ Love Presents Universal Budots.
That collaboration showed how the group can take a familiar song and give it a fresh sound without losing its playful identity.
Their return to Universal Records reconnects the group with the label where their musical journey began. The reunion was announced in 2025, with the members sharing their excitement about working with the company again.
“Looking forward kami sa mga projects ulit, kasi dito nagsimula ang mga songs namin at dito naman nakilala rin ang Masculados,” the group said.
Keeping the Kaldagan Alive
While the production may sound more current, Masculados are not leaving their personality behind. Fans can still expect the same “100% kaldagan” energy that has long been part of their identity.
The mix of nostalgia and a newer musical approach could help the group connect with longtime supporters while introducing their style to younger listeners.
The group has also previously spoken about plans for more original music, making “Saging” an important step in this next phase.
