Bamboo Returns With “Alon,” His First New Single in 11 Years
Last Updated on October 30, 2026 by Jaskaran Singh
Bamboo is back with new music. After 11 years without a new release, the OPM rock icon has dropped “Alon,” a single about pain, resilience and the chance to start again.
The song was released under filtered music, a sub-label of PolyEast Records. Bamboo renewed his partnership with the label, which first began in 2004, during a contract signing and media launch on October 26, 2026, in Quezon City.
About “Alon”
- Artist: Bamboo
- Written and Composed By: Ria Osorio
- Label: filtered music (PolyEast Records)
- Where to Listen: All major digital streaming platforms
“Alon” takes a different direction from the guitar-driven rock sound Bamboo is known for. The track has a stripped-down electronic arrangement with textured guitar, shaped by Bamboo, Osorio and guitarist Ardie de Guzman. Bamboo originally recorded a full-band version but went back to Osorio’s demo to capture the sound he wanted.
While the song deals with heavy emotions, Bamboo describes it as resisting sadness rather than giving in to it. He hopes it reminds listeners that they are not alone in what they feel. A live performance video inspired by an art installation accompanies the release.
Bamboo’s Return to Music
Bamboo last released solo albums with No Water, No Moon in 2011 and Bless This Mess in 2015. During his break from recording, he continued to perform, collaborate with other artists and tour in the Philippines and abroad. He has not announced an album or concert dates yet, saying “Alon” is just the beginning again.
