Ace Banzuelo Releases Debut Album Supernatural
Last Updated on August 22, 2026 by Over Here Toronto
Filipino singer-songwriter and producer Ace Banzuelo has released his debut album, Supernatural, a nine-track project that blends R&B, dream pop, and dance music with deeply personal stories of love, longing, betrayal, and healing.
The album arrived on August 21, 2026, through Sony Music Entertainment, marking an important new chapter in Banzuelo’s career. Across nine tracks, Supernatural introduces listeners to a cinematic and dreamlike world shaped by years of musical experimentation and personal experiences.
Ace Banzuelo’s Supernatural explores love, loss, and transformation
At the heart of Supernatural is the strange familiarity that can come with meeting someone for the first time. Banzuelo describes the feeling as an uncanny experience, where a person can seem completely new while somehow feeling instantly recognizable.
The album’s concept began taking shape around eight years ago before its wider creative direction came together in 2024.
“I was going through a lot during that phase of my life,” Banzuelo explains. “I dealt with fame and personal things at the same time, which inspired the album’s emotional arc.”
That emotional journey is reflected throughout the project. Rather than following a single genre, Supernatural moves between dance, R&B, and dream pop, allowing Banzuelo to experiment with different sounds while maintaining a distinct artistic identity.
A cinematic sound shaped by experimentation
As both a singer-songwriter and producer, Banzuelo takes an active role in shaping the sound and overall creative direction of Supernatural.
“As a music producer, I get to explore, experiment, and play with anything I want,” he says. “I approached the album with what I know and what I am keen to explore sonically. I want my listeners to enter a high-definition, dreamlike state.”
He adds that his personality, experiences, and musical taste are present throughout the project, from the songs themselves to the album’s visual direction.
The result is an album that feels intentionally immersive. Each track contributes to the larger atmosphere of Supernatural, creating a listening experience that moves beyond individual songs.
“Sakin” highlights Ace Banzuelo’s vulnerable side
The album opens with its title track before moving through “Girl, You’re On My Mind,” “Bighani,” “minsan,” “Kilala,” “hindi mo alam,” “hagkan,” “Mawala,” and the focus track “Sakin.”
An R&B-leaning slow jam, “Sakin” offers one of the album’s most vulnerable moments. The song is framed as a confession to someone Banzuelo never had the opportunity to see again.
Banzuelo describes “Sakin” as one of his few love songs and says he hopes to explore this side of his sound further.
“I love R&B, and I have been experimenting with my sound ever since, and ‘Sakin’ became a raw entry point for this new sound I have developed,” he shares.
Supernatural marks a new chapter for Ace Banzuelo
More than a debut album, Supernatural brings together different stages of Banzuelo’s artistic development. His work as a songwriter, producer, and performer allows him to take creative control across the music, arrangements, performances, and visual direction.
The project also arrives at a time when music consumption is increasingly shaped by short-form content and individual tracks. With Supernatural, Banzuelo instead presents a body of work designed to be experienced as a complete project.
For listeners discovering Filipino music from Toronto and beyond, the album offers another look at the evolving sound of Filipino pop and R&B. Banzuelo’s blend of atmospheric production, personal songwriting, and genre experimentation gives Supernatural a distinct place within the current Filipino music landscape.
Ultimately, Supernatural serves as both an introduction and a reflection of where Ace Banzuelo has been, where he is now, and where his music could go next.
