SHANNi Finds Her Sound on Debut EP ‘Cure For Loneliness’
Last Updated on October 23, 2026 by Over Here Toronto
Filipino singer-songwriter SHANNi explores love, healing, and self-discovery on her debut EP, Cure For Loneliness. Released on October 23 via Sony Music Entertainment, the five-track project brings together OPM, Manila Sound, soft rock, sunshine pop, jazz, and indie pop. More importantly, it reflects her growing confidence as an artist and her desire to create music that feels true to herself.
Rather than stick to one genre, SHANNi lets each song follow its own direction. The result is a warm, intimate collection that explores different forms of love and human connection.
‘Cure For Loneliness’ Finds Comfort in Love and Connection

At its heart, Cure For Loneliness is about understanding that love comes in many forms. Across its five tracks, SHANNi writes about longing, affection, and the comfort of feeling connected to others.
The EP also reflects a personal realization. While working on the songs, she began to recognize the support already present in her life. This helped her see loneliness from a different perspective.
“The songs are mostly about love and the different ways we experience it, whether through longing, connection, or simply feeling loved by the people around us,” SHANNi shares in a press statement.
She also explains that the people who supported her became part of her healing. As a result, the project looks beyond romantic relationships. It also highlights the importance of friends, family, and other people who make us feel less alone.
This message gives the EP its emotional center. Although the songs explore different experiences, they share a common idea: connection can help people find comfort during difficult moments.
A Sound That Feels Personal to SHANNi
Musically, Cure For Loneliness moves between several styles. Manila Sound, soft rock, sunshine pop, jazz, and indie pop all shape its sound. Yet, the different influences come together through intimate songwriting and warm arrangements.
SHANNi co-produced the EP with Max Cinco. Together, they built a sound that feels inviting while leaving room for vulnerability. The songs suit quiet city walks, late-night drives, and moments spent reflecting on personal experiences.
Cinco’s horn arrangements also add texture to the record. They bring a nostalgic touch to tracks such as “2 O’CLOCK,” “Pag-uwi Mo,” and “Sorry Na Please.”
Behind the scenes, several music professionals helped shape the EP’s final sound. Marcus Mababangloob of Meadowlark Productions handled the recording. Jet Francisco of Wild Grass Studio worked on digital mixing, while Marco de Leon of Mix Machine Analog handled analog mastering.
These contributions help give the project a cohesive sound while allowing each song to retain its own character.
For SHANNi, however, the goal was never to fit into a single musical category. Instead, she wanted the sound to reflect her identity.
“I didn’t really want to limit myself to one genre,” she explains. “Instead, I focused on what each song needed and what sound best expressed the story I wanted to tell.”
She adds that embracing the different styles she loves is part of finding her voice as an artist. Through this approach, Cure For Loneliness introduces listeners to a more confident and personal side of her music.
SHANNi to Celebrate the EP With a Marikina Launch Party
To mark the release, SHANNi will hold an EP launch party on October 31, 2026, at Theodore Events Place in Marikina City. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will feature performances from several Filipino artists.
The announced lineup includes The Itchyworms, ena mori, One Click Straight, Suyen, Planetena, and Uncle Jonny.
For SHANNi, the gathering is more than a celebration of new music. It is also an opportunity to thank the people who have supported her journey.

She also describes the event as her way of showing appreciation to those who believed in her and her music.
