Papakape Just Opened A Stunning New Cafe Inside The National Museum Of Fine Arts

Looking for a reason to linger longer at the National Museum of Fine Arts? You now have one. Papakape, a beloved homegrown Filipino cafe, just opened its newest branch right inside the museum. You can find this new spot at the Benigno Aquino Jr. Foyer on the fourth floor.

This location overlooks the old Senate hall. This gives visitors a stunning view of National Artist Carlos “Botong” V. Francisco’s masterpiece, Filipino Struggles Through History.

Cafe owner Manu Reyes shared the story behind this new venture. He explained that the museum administration had a long-standing vision. They wanted a comfortable space for visitors to relax and enjoy.

“It was short of serendipitous that our visions and values aligned,” Reyes noted about the partnership.

Savor Modern Filipino Flavors

Papakape carefully crafts its menu to reflect Filipino culture with a creative twist. This location currently serves favorites from their Rizal Park menu.

You can try unique signature drinks such as:

  • Ice Buko Americano (P220)
  • Mango Cream Coffee (P220)
  • Polvoron Dinosaur (P220)
  • Cerveza Negra Float (P220)
  • Frozen Bayabas (P220)

They also offer classic options:

  • Americano (P160)
  • Coconut Latte (P200)
  • Coco-Cappuccino (P200)

Reyes teased that the cafe plans to launch an exclusive menu specifically for this museum branch soon.

From Humble Beginnings To Heritage Sites

Papakape started during the pandemic as a small glass house in Palanan, Makati. Reyes began experimenting with “Pinoy flavors and personal narratives expressed in the drinks.” The brand later expanded to iconic heritage sites, including Intramuros and Rizal Park.

“Papakape is such a loaded Pinoy word that gives you a picture of serving one another,” Reyes explained.

Keep in mind, you will not find the cafe’s famous resident cats lounging around this new branch. The museum enforces strict house rules to protect the priceless collections.

“It’s first and foremost a museum with a cafe. Not the other way around,” Reyes emphasized.

Papakape at the National Museum of Fine Arts operates daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Reyes also hinted at an upcoming branch in Legazpi Village, Makati.
