Filipino artists crwn (King Puentespina) and Muri (Muriel Gonzales) have joined forces for their debut collaborative single, “Shelter,” released on November 6, 2026.

The track brings together two longtime figures in Manila’s indie music scene. It blends mellow vocals, gentle violin arrangements, warm synths, and electronic production to tell a story about finding comfort in familiar places.

From Manila’s Indie Scene to a Songwriting Camp in Bali

Before working together on “Shelter,” crwn and Muri built their musical careers in different corners of the local indie scene.

Muri is a member of indie folk band The Ransom Collective, while King Puentespina was part of SOS before launching crwn as his solo electronic project.

Although their bands had crossed paths years earlier, the two artists reconnected at an international songwriting camp in Bali. Both were working on their individual solo projects when they had the opportunity to write together.

For Muri, the collaboration came naturally after years of knowing each other.

“King and I have known each other for years, but the AXEAN songwriting camp in Bali was the first time we really got to hang out. ‘Shelter’ was an idea that started when we paired up to write together for a day,” she shares.

The Story and Sound Behind “Shelter”

“Shelter” begins with an introspective arrangement built around mellow vocals, gentle violins, and warm synths. As the track progresses, its rhythm develops into an electronic beat drop that gives the song a more expansive sound.

Its central idea revolves around coming home to something that has been close all along. Rather than treating home as a destination, the song reflects on the possibility that finding a way forward can also mean finding a way back.

crwn explains how the track’s message developed during the creative process.

“‘Shelter’ is about realizing the thing you’ve been looking for was already close to you the whole time. That idea came about organically as we were laying down beats, violin riffs, and reflecting on where we were in our lives,” he says.
