The wait is almost over for the Philippine culinary scene. The first-ever MICHELIN Guide for Manila, Cebu, and the surrounding areas will be revealed at a special ceremony on October 30, 2025.

The inaugural event will be held at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts. For the first time, select restaurants in the country will be officially recognized with MICHELIN Stars, Bib Gourmand awards, and other honors.

What to Expect at the Ceremony

The invite-only ceremony will bring together top chefs, restaurateurs, and industry leaders to celebrate the country’s dining scene. During the event, the MICHELIN Guide will announce:

  • The first restaurants in the Philippines to receive one, two, or three MICHELIN Stars.
  • The recipients of the Bib Gourmand award, which recognizes great food at a great value.
  • The full list of restaurants included in the MICHELIN Selection.
  • Special Awards for outstanding individuals in the restaurant industry.

How the Michelin Inspectors Decide

Restaurants are chosen by anonymous MICHELIN inspectors who visit establishments and evaluate them based on five global criteria:

  1. The quality of the ingredients.
  2. The mastery of cooking techniques.
  3. The balance of flavors.
  4. The chef’s personality expressed through the food.
  5. Consistency between visits.

This system ensures that the ratings are based on a global standard of excellence.

A Global Celebration in Manila

The launch ceremony will also feature a culinary showcase from globally acclaimed chefs. Visiting chefs who will be part of the celebration include:

  • Chef Guillaume Galliot of Caprice (★★★, Hong Kong)
  • Chef Darren Teoh of Dewakan (★★, Kuala Lumpur)
  • Chefs Tim Flores & Genie Kwon of Kasama (★, Chicago), the first Filipino restaurant to earn a Michelin Star.
  • Chef Vicky Cheng of VEA (★, Hong Kong)
