Free MRT-3 Rides Await Solo Parents in Metro Manila This April 2026
Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) management gives back to solo parents this week. Eligible single mothers and fathers can skip the fare on their daily commute from April 15 to 18, 2026.
High inflation and soaring pump prices burden many commuters today. While international leaders adopt various strategies—much like when Carney suspends fuel tax to relieve drivers overseas—the Philippine government focuses on direct public transport subsidies to help vulnerable sectors cope with the rising cost of living.

How to Avail Your Free Train Ride
You can enjoy this transportation perk during specific rush hour windows. Head to any of the 13 MRT-3 stations, from Taft Avenue in Pasay City to North Avenue in Quezon City, during these two daily time slots:
- 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Simply present your valid Solo Parent ID to the station personnel at the ticketing booth. You do not need to bring any other document to claim your free boarding pass.
Honoring the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act
This initiative celebrates Solo Parents Week and aligns directly with the mandate of Republic Act No. 11861, also known as the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and MRT-3 management view this program as more than just a free ticket.
Through their official social media channels, MRT-3 representatives called the initiative a small gesture of gratitude for the unparalleled sacrifice, dedication, and love that single parents provide to their families every single day.
Commuters should plan their trips early to take full advantage of the designated free ride windows and avoid heavy foot traffic at the turnstiles.
