Dominic Fike Releases Third Studio Album ‘How to Quit Smoking,’ Featuring “Casting Call”
Last Updated on November 3, 2026 by Over Here Toronto
Dominic Fike has officially released his third studio album, How to Quit Smoking, featuring the focus track “Casting Call.” The 15-track project was written and recorded while the singer-songwriter traveled across North America for his Comedy Tragedy Parody tour, bringing together music and moments from life on the road.

The new album follows Fike’s August announcement that he would create his third record in real time, with an ambitious two-month release timeline. Rather than relying on a highly polished studio environment from the beginning, he chose to work wherever the tour took him, allowing the places, people, and experiences along the way to shape the music.
Listeners can now stream How to Quit Smoking on digital streaming platforms, with vinyl editions also available to order.
Dominic Fike Recorded the Album While Touring North America
For eight weeks, Fike worked on How to Quit Smoking while traveling across North America. Songwriting and recording sessions took place in different settings, including a hotel room in Virginia Beach, a tour bus traveling from Albuquerque to Las Vegas, and a seaplane flying over Vancouver.
The diner featured in Twin Peaks, located outside Seattle, also became part of the journey behind the album. These locations served as creative backdrops for songs such as “Wallflower,” “Small Town,” and “Pangea.”
The recording process brought together a wide range of collaborators, some of whom joined Fike through last-minute flights and extended stays on the road. Among the artists involved were Love Spells, Emma Ogier, Grace Ives, Gabriel Jacoby, Kevin Abstract, reggie, Jorjiana, Danny Brown, and Hether, alongside a phone call with rapper Tay-K.
Sonic Ranch Helped Shape the Final Album
Originally scheduled for an early October release, How to Quit Smoking was pushed back by three weeks as the project grew beyond Fike’s initial plans. During a performance in Los Angeles, he told the audience that the album had become bigger than he had imagined.
Fike then headed to Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, to narrow down the tracklist and bring the record together. The studio became the creative base for the project’s final recording sessions before the team moved to New York City to complete the recording, mixing, and mastering process.
The album was ultimately completed at Electric Lady Studios.
John Cunningham, who helped bring “White Keys” to life five years earlier, also reunited with Fike during the final recording sessions at Sonic Ranch. His involvement helped shape the album’s overall sound, while bringing additional collaborators, including Jorjiana and Tay-K, into the project.
Tay-K Appears on the Album’s Closing Track
One of the album’s notable moments comes toward the end of its final track, “Spotlight / Inner Child.” The song features Tay-K, whose contribution came through a phone call with John Cunningham from prison during the group’s final days in Texas.
During the conversation, Fike discussed the complications of the life he had created for himself. Tay-K offered a reminder about staying connected to one’s inner child and approaching life as a continuous learning experience.
The exchange gives the album a personal closing moment, adding another layer to a record shaped by conversations, collaborations, and experiences beyond the recording studio.

‘Casting Call’ Leads the 15-Track Album
Alongside the album release, Fike has highlighted “Casting Call” as its focus track. The song is part of a 15-track collection that features several guest appearances from artists who joined him throughout the creative process.
