Chicken Inasal and Classic Adobo Secure Top Spots in TasteAtlas Global Rankings
Filipinos love a good chicken meal, and the rest of the culinary world clearly agrees. Global food and travel guide TasteAtlas just published its April 2026 update for the 50 Best Chicken Dishes in the World. Two of our ultimate local comfort foods snagged highly coveted spots on this prestigious international list.
Chicken Inasal Rules Southeast Asia
Bacolod’s pride and joy claimed the number three spot worldwide with an impressive 4.4 rating. TasteAtlas also crowned this smoky grilled masterpiece the absolute best chicken dish in all of Southeast Asia.

The international food platform heavily praised the dish for its signature regional marinade. Local cooks achieve this vibrant flavor by mixing vinegar, lemongrass, garlic, and ginger. They perfect the dish by brushing annatto-infused oil over the meat during the hot grilling process.
Adobong Manok Gets Global Recognition
Our staple family dinner also made a significant mark on the international food scene. Adobong manok landed at the 40th spot globally and grabbed the sixth position in Southeast Asia with a solid 4.1 rating.

TasteAtlas highlighted the traditional stew’s perfect balance of savory, tangy, and slightly sweet flavors. The travel guide specifically noted the combination of ingredients that create our culinary symbol:
- Tender chicken cuts
- Crushed garlic and chopped onions
- Soy sauce and white vinegar
- Dried bay leaves and whole peppercorns
- A touch of brown sugar
For extra context, South Korea’s famously crunchy double-fried chicken topped the global rankings this year.
Boosting Local Food Tourism
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay praised the recent rankings and noted how Filipino cuisine acts as a powerful expression of our national identity. She emphasized that these global shoutouts directly boost opportunities for local farmers, chefs, and small business owners.
The Department of Tourism continues to champion culinary tourism as these everyday family dishes gain international fame. We already see this economic power in action, as recent cultural festivals hosted by the Bacolod City local government generated millions in local revenue. Our everyday home cooking is undeniably taking over the world stage.
