FAMAS heads into its 74th edition
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences was established in 1952. It remains the Philippines’ oldest existing film industry award-giving body.
Over the years, FAMAS has also expanded some of its programs beyond its annual film ceremony. For instance, the organization held its first Broadcast Arts Awards in 2026. That event covered television, radio, podcasts, and digital media and was separate from the annual film awards.
Earlier this year, FAMAS President and Chairperson Francia Camacho-Conrado spoke about continuing the organization’s recognition programs.
“As long as I live, I would love to give recognitions really to all those that are really wanting a FAMAS trophy, a FAMAS legacy,” she said.
Still, the annual film awards remain one of the group’s main events.
This year’s nominees also overlap with several other Philippine film award lists. For example, Sunshine, I’mPerfect, Quezon, Manila’s Finest, and Bar Boys: After School have received nominations from other local groups in 2026. However, results from those separate ceremonies do not determine the FAMAS winners.
Ahead of the ceremony, Quezon and In Thy Name hold the highest nomination count at 12 each. Sunshine follows with eight.
The 74th FAMAS Awards will take place on October 27, 2026, at The Manila Hotel in Manila. During the ceremony, FAMAS will announce the winners across acting, directing, screenplay, technical, and Best Picture categories.
For now, the nominee list gives viewers a full look at the films and performers competing at this year’s ceremony.
