Nadine Lustre’s “Donuts” Brings a Grittier Sound With Apl.de.Ap
Last Updated on September 7, 2026 by Lovely Prescilla
Nadine Lustre Donuts marks a new chapter for the pop star as she teams up with Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.Ap for a darker blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop.
Released under Cool Girl Records, “Donuts” follows Nadine’s recent single “Personal” but takes her sound in a noticeably grittier direction. The track combines retro-futurist production, heavy 808s, marching-style drums, and haunting choir vocals, creating a bold and atmospheric sound.

Narrated by Francis Brew of The Dawn, the track opens with a commanding vocal presence before moving into its hard-hitting production. Nadine delivers rap-sung lines with a confident edge, showing a more urban side of her artistry.
Apl.de.Ap adds another layer to the track with a powerful Taglish verse. The Pampanga-born rapper references Lapu-Lapu and the idea of taking control of one’s destiny, bringing Filipino identity into the collaboration.
“Donuts” was written by Nadine Lustre, Andric Ivo Empreso, and Jan Roberts Baloloy, with production by Khalil Atienza, Elijiah Wudz Bitacura, and Isagani Palabyab.
The song also appears to be part of a larger musical direction for Nadine, serving as the second release in a string of singles that could lead toward a bigger project.
Nadine previously shared her excitement about working with Apl.de.Ap in an Instagram post on September 5, calling the collaboration “a little surreal” and confirming that “D O N U T S” was out on all platforms.
Nadine Lustre’s “Donuts” is now available worldwide on digital music platforms via Cool Girl Records.
