Jay R Gives “Bakit Pa Ba” a New Taglish Arrangement

Rather than making major changes to the song’s sound, Jay R and Lil’ Eddie kept the arrangement restrained. The new version maintains the intimate feel of the original, with more attention given to the vocals, harmonies, and emotional delivery.

Jay R explained that the team worked with three different producers before settling on the arrangement. They eventually decided against adding too many layers, choosing instead to let the singers carry the track.

Lil’ Eddie also suggested opening the song with acoustic instrumentation and no drums. The decision helps preserve the character of the original recording while giving the Taglish lyrics room to stand out.

The Collaboration Took Nearly Seven Hours to Complete

The idea for a Taglish version had been on Jay R’s mind for years, and fans had also been asking for one. The opportunity took shape while he and Lil’ Eddie were touring the Philippines to promote their duet “Statue (Taglish Version).”

The two artists spent nearly seven hours writing and recording “Bakit Pa Ba.” Much of that time went into refining the English lyrics so they would sound natural alongside the original Tagalog passages.

For Jay R, Lil’ Eddie’s musical ability and understanding of the song made him the right collaborator for the project.
